Department of Energy and Power Engineering of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering of Shanghai University of Engineering Science launched the German Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN) on March 24 to 26, 2021. After continuous improvement and refinement, the Department of Energy and Power Engineering successfully completed a site visit for international professional accreditation by ASIIN on September 7, 2023.
At 9:00 a.m., September 7, the meeting of the expert group was held in Room 8B604 in the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. Mr. Bernd Muehe, former head of ABB Power Products China and Tao Yiran, a student of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Mr. Xia Chunming, Vice President of Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology, and relevant departments such as the Office of the University, Academic Affairs Office, Quality Office, National Communication Office, Personnel Office, Planning Office, Finance Office, Student Affairs Office, Recruitment Office, Resources and Practices Office, Library, Information Office, Youth League Committee, and Industrial Training Center attended the accreditation visit. The responsible officer of the Industrial Training Center and relevant functional departments, the responsible officer of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, the responsible officer of the specialties and the teachers of the relevant specialties attended the accreditation inspection meeting. The meeting was held by Kuang Jianghong, the Director of the Quality Office (Education Development Center).
Mr. Xia Chunming, Vice President of the university, introduced the development history, development vision, development strategy, characteristic advantages and positioning, teaching and research, international cooperation and quality assurance to the panel. He emphasized that the university adheres to the strategic goal of international development and the "four synergies" model of education based on the platform of strategic alliance between industry, academia and research, actively promotes the international accreditation of majors, strengthens international cooperation, and establishes a good system of quality assurance and continuous improvement of teaching and learning, so as to ensure the sustainable development of professional construction. It also indicates the importance of ASIIN accreditation to the school's professional construction. The school has successfully passed the ASIIN accreditation for the majors of Vehicle Engineering (Urban Railway Vehicles), Railway Signal and Control, and Railway Engineering, etc., and is actively promoting the ASIIN accreditation and international accreditation for the majors of Energy and Power Engineering as well as other majors. The university will make full use of the opportunity of this professional accreditation to further promote by evaluation and further promote the high-quality development of the profession, which provides a strong talent support for the national strategy, industry demand and local socio-economic development.
Mr. Fang Yu, Dean of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, briefly introduced to the expert group the development history of the School, the composition of professional departments, international exchanges, industry-academia cooperation and student cultivation, and focused on the basic situation of the Energy and Power Engineering program and the continuous improvement of the ASIIN accreditation. The expert group asked questions about the original intention of the merger and the future development plan of the college, and Dean Fang Yu communicated with the expert group and said that the college welcomes the expert group's visit, and will strengthen the internationalization construction of the specialty according to the accreditation opinion and make continuous improvement.
Mr. Bernd Muehe, the expert group, briefly introduced the accreditation history of the energy and power engineering program of the university in the meeting, affirmed the accreditation work of the energy and power engineering program in the early stage, and also clarified the content of this site visit. The on-site inspection was carried out in the form of teachers' symposium, students' symposium and teaching resources field inspection. After fully communicating and understanding our quality management system, faculty qualification and training system, library collections and databases, etc., and professional laboratories, the expert group fully affirmed our quality assurance system and faculty qualification and training system, and considered that the quality assurance system is complete and provides sufficient conditions for the professional talent cultivation objectives and realization, and the faculty qualification and training system is perfect, which helps the teachers to The quality of the team is upgraded. Meanwhile, the library is rich in resources, and the laboratory is reasonably planned with instruments and equipments suitable for accomplishing teaching experiments, providing students with good teaching resources. The expert group also made suggestions on the transparency of the evaluation system, the voluntary degree of students' participation in evaluation, and the enhancement of teachers' leadership, the development of the teaching feedback system and the construction of the professional English website, as well as suggesting to strengthen the communication between senior and junior students, and to invite corporate executives to give lectures on campus to improve the communication and contact between students and the corporate side.
